Anna Helena Sundt from Sandvika found her dream job and dream place in Florø — where she gets to combine her passion for people, relationships and the outdoors as an HR trainee at Westcon Yard.
Anna found her dream job in her dream surroundings
With a passion for people and good relationships, and with a strong interest in outdoor activities, Anna Helena Sundt from Sandvika found both her dream job and her dream surroundings when Westcon Yard in Florø announced her position as an HR trainee.

A varied background
Anna grew up in Sandvika in Bærum, in a family that loved walks and varied activities. With relatives in both Scotland and other parts of the world, many journeys were made, and curiosity about people and cultures was awakened early on. After high school, she went to folk high school at Sunnmøre, where she stayed for two years, first as a pupil on the multisport line, then as a fellow at Global Safari, a leadership training line.
Furthermore, she took a five-year master's degree as a lecturer in Bergen, an education where she also traveled on exchange both to Copenhagen and spent a semester in the Netherlands.
The exciting HR profession
Her interest in human relations led Anna into the HR profession. She describes lifting others forward and helping to realize the potential of those around her as something she is particularly passionate about. After a few weeks in the HR department at Westcon, she can confirm that her experiences have so far exceeded expectations. The learning curve has been steep, with varied work assignments that have given her a clear insight into the breadth of the HR profession.
Anna also highlights the confidence she has faced from day one, with lots of responsibilities and exciting challenges, combined with supportive colleagues cheering her on. This combination suits her perfectly.
“The job in HR also provides a unique opportunity to get to know all parts of the company well.
Anna is also concerned about the need to continuously work on a good work environment, and sees the importance of a balance between being challenged and feeling empowered. Westcon has a diverse group of employees from diverse backgrounds — something she believes is certainly a strength for the company.
Trainee scheme brings benefits
“The trainee scheme in Future County has been very valuable. It provides professional support and a safe framework in the transition from study to working life. In addition, meetings are organized where the trainees gain insight into the business world in Western Norway, and networks are built. Not least, the scheme also provides a social community with other trainees, which I greatly appreciate.
There were several things that made Anna see Westcon as an exciting business, first of all that the company was in development and had received many exciting and long-term contracts. She also wanted to understand more about the industry and industry, something that such a job will certainly provide insight into. At the same time, she points out that the size of the company is ideal. “Westcon is big enough to be exciting, yet small enough to get close to people and processes. For Anna, this provides the perfect combination of insight into the industry and proximity to what actually happens in everyday life.
A new day in a new city
It's not just Westcon that has met expectations — Florø also has. The proximity to the sea, mountains and nature is highly valued, and as an easternist who loves to swim, Anna often uses a sauna, always with a refreshing sea bath as the end. The city has impressed her with its cultural life and events, despite the space being smaller than she has previously been used to. She also highlights the charming fact that one often meets the same people in different contexts, and finds that people are both open and curious. Anna tells of when she and several trainees visited Vesle Kinn, and that local people were curious about who they were. She has also taken her involvement into Flora U40, where she is part of the resource group that organizes everything from small gatherings to larger activities.
There is no doubt that Anna likes to get involved — next week she invites all the Framtidsfylket trainees in Florø home for dinner. Chili con carne is on the menu — and new good relationships are created.
