When Marianne Cederløv started in the role of maintenance manager, she knew that she was stepping into a job that is crucial to the operation of the entire yard. For her, maintenance is more than routines and systems; it's the very foundations that make everything else work.
“Once the machinery, equipment and systems are in order, the rest of the organization can deliver. Being able to use my expertise with the team, and seeing that our efforts make a difference for many, is a great motivation,” she says.
Marianne brings with her experience both as an operator and engineer from the process industry, and she has worked extensively with digitalization, change management and IT systems. This combination allows her to have insight into both practical, technical and strategic aspects of maintenance.
I appreciate being able to combine my experiences. It is to see the whole, but at the same time understand the specifics of the operation. At the same time, I know that the key lies in building on the solid knowledge that already exists here at the shipyard.
Taking over the baton after another leader can be special, but Marianne describes the start-up as both confident and inspiring.
“I've been met by a bunch who really know their craft and who take responsibility. The expertise both in the department and elsewhere in the yard is impressive, and it makes us make things work in practice. When you're welcomed in that way, it becomes a lot easier to get into the role and build on alongside good people.

For Marianne, the most important thing going forward is to ensure control of the equipment at all times — both for the sake of safety, efficiency and predictability in everyday life.
At the same time, it is equally important to develop people. We need to take care of the expertise we already have and build on new knowledge and experience. That's when we manage to deliver the best in the long run.
What energizes Marianne is seeing results of the work she and her team are doing.
“When equipment comes back into operation, or when a solution we have worked on makes everyday life safer and easier for the people in the yard, then I know the motivation. I also like that the days are different — something new is always happening in a shipyard, and that variety makes the job exciting.
Outside the yard we find Marianne at the small farm she and her family are renovating. Here, everyday life is filled with both work in the garden, caring for horses, and time with the family.
“We hope to have more animals in due course, but right now it's the horses that get the most attention. I like to be outdoors — whether in the garden, on a walk or with work on the farm. And when I get a quiet moment, I like to sit down with the knitwear or sew a little,” she says.
The small farm brings both joy and challenges and, just like in the yard, it's about keeping things going, solving small and large tasks and seeing results from your efforts.
'It suits me well, 'she smiles.
