Trygve Solaas reports strong future prospects for Westcon Yards Florø as he hands over the role of yard director to Even Rønnekleiv.
Even Rønnekleiv (43) joined Westcon Yards Florø in the autumn of 2025 as Operations Manager. He has broad leadership experience from, among others, Brødrene Aa in Hyen, where he served as CFO and yard manager. As of March 1, he becomes the yard director at Westcon Yards Florø.
- I truly appreciate the trust I have been given and look forward to the assignment. The employees at Westcon Yards Florø, with Trygve at the forefront, together with the owners and the rest of the group, have positioned the Florø yard and the organization to take advantage of market opportunities going forward. Investments have been made in modern facilities, and systematic work over time has paved the way for a profitable future, says Rønnekleiv.
He takes over after Trygve Solaas, who has led Westcon Yards Florø since 2019. During this period, the number of employees has increased from around 90 to today’s 230. The yard has particularly strengthened its position as a key player in maintenance and service of defense vessels, and has adapted its facilities to meet the security requirements such assignments demand. In addition, the yard has expanded its capacity for docking and traditional ship service, and delivered record-high activity within subsea.
- We’ve had a board and owners who have believed in Florø, and it has been incredibly rewarding to be part of developing this yard. I believe the future prospects are now better than ever, and this is a good time to hand over the leadership to Even, says Solaas, who will continue at Westcon in a role connected to ship-related activities.
Chairman Øystein Matre of Westcon Yards Florø is very pleased with the leadership transition now being announced.
- Trygve has led Westcon Yards Florø through a period of significant growth and development, and the yard is today well positioned for further advancement. Even is the perfect person to take the yard forward. He brings highly valued competence and experience, and has in a short time built strong trust within the organization, says Matre.
