Westcon Yards has today delivered the new fishing vessel to Trønderbas AS.
This is a state of the art spinner and pelagic trawler, designed by SALT Ship Design. The ship is about 74 meters long and has a greatest width of 16 meters. It is to replace the former “Trønderbas”, which was also provided by Westcon Yards back in 1999.

“Nye Trønderbas” represents the next generation of fishing vessels for the Ulsund family, which owns the shipping company. The family is a well-known player in the Norwegian fishing industry.

The first time the shipping company carried out a major work in Ølensvåg was in 1977 when the then Trønderbas had a shelter deck built. The previous Trønderbas were delivered from Westcon in 1999.

- We are delighted with the trust from the Ulsund family and the good cooperation during the construction period and wish Rederi, the ship and the crew the best of luck with another boat from Westcon.

The ship has both diesel, diesel-electric and a large battery pack that ensures optimal energy optimization and propulsion. The ship is equipped withgood amenities for a crew of 15.

Westcon Yards has decades of experience building fishing boats and offshore vessels. In addition, the shipyard, with locations in Ølen, Karmsund, Florø and Helgeland, is a leader in the North Sea in rebuilding and repairing ships and rigs. At these locations, Westcon has invested more than NOK 300 million in upgrades in recent years to further strengthen its position towards traditional markets such as fisheries, industry and defence.

- The project has been a major contributor to employment over the past year with over 100 people in work.

Our strategy is to build activity beyond the offshore market and we are very pleased to deliverok a quality product from Westcon.

The international market is demanding, but in cooperation with our skilled employees and solid subcontractors, we are proud to see the result of the extensive work put in at every stage to deliver this great product.
