Westcon Yards Signs Contract for Completion of Construction Vessel for DFO in Taiwan

Westcon Yards has signed a contract to complete a construction vessel for DFO (Dong Fang Offshore) that will be used for cable laying.

The CLV vessel, with hull number 168, is 130 meters long. It will be equipped with a 250-ton NOV crane, a cable carousel with a capacity of 4,000 tons below deck, and accommodation for 130 people. Delivery is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.

The hull was started in 2008 in Canada and is now located at Westcon’s yard in Florø. The project will start immediately in Florø, and after docking in the summer of 2026, the vessel will be towed to Westcon Yards in Ølen for completion. The ship will also be fitted with a battery solution that helps reduce fuel consumption and lower emissions.

The contract is valued at approximately NOK 1.3 billion.
